The Spanish Presidency tried to generate “confidence and unity” in the EU and made “substantial progress” in the economic union
 
 
Strasbourg, 6th July 2010.- The President of the Spanish Government, José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero, highlighted that the Spanish Presidency has tried to generate “confidence and unity” in the EU, as well as making “substantial progress” in the economic union, during his review of the first six months of the year at the European Parliament in Strasbourg.

Madrid, 1st July 2010 .- The Spanish Secretary of State for the EU, Diego López Garrido, declared that the EU already has monetary union and is on a “clear path” towards economic union. His statement was made during an event at the representation offices of the European Commission in Madrid to mark the end of the Spanish Presidency and the beginning of the Belgian Presidency.
